After holiday parties where #FoodComa was expected, I figured a healthy dessert would be appreciated! I chose to make some baked cinnamon apples, a great after Christmas feast. Plus, it’s so wintery!
Baked Cinnamon Apples
♥ 3 apples
♥ 3 teaspoons Maple syrup
♥ 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (depends on how you love it: add less or more)
♥ 1 cinnamon stick
♥ a knob of salted butter
♥ 1/2 cup water
Sprinkle them with some crunchy granola for more sweetness 🙂
♥ 1 cup oatmeal
♥ 1 tablespoon Maple syrup
♥ 1 tablespoon praline powder
♥ 1/3 cup compote (apple or whatever)
♥ a tiny little bit of hazelnut oil
♥ pecan nuts
- Slice the peeled apples into quarters, then cut them in half. Put them first into a pot with water and the cinnamon stick. Cover it and cook for around 10 minutes. In a pan add the salted butter and brown the apples, sprinkle them with some ground cinnamon. Once brown, pour the Maple syrup to caramelise the apples.
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees (or 180 degrees if your oven is really hot). In a pot, heat the compote, Maple syrup, and hazelnut oil. When it’s hot pour into oatmeal, mix well. The mixture must be dry. Bake for around 40-45 minutes, make sure to keep an eye on it!
- Plate up the baked apples as you wish, sprinkle with some crunchy granola on top and pecan nuts. Now take a cup of tea, some reading, and you’re ready for an afternoon of laziness—well deserved!!
